about

A wistful and melancholy ballad. Not surprisingly, the song was written by Kay Starr and Billy Butterfield during the war years of the 1940s.

I hope that by including it here, the song will give some measure of comfort to those who feel lonely; validating these emotions and reminding them that others may be feeling the same way, too. In the past, I found that winter has many moods and sometimes just acknowledging the different seasons of life lessens the emotional hold on you.

This song is in a similar vibe to "I'll be Home for Christmas... if only in my dreams". Here the song ends on the words "And so, no matter what my fortune may be, or where I may roam... In December I'll be going home". Deep down inside, the listener understands that in truth, it's just wishful thinking; comfort being found in memories and hopes for the future.

Jeudi Los Angeles, California

As a performer of vintage music, I like to take people on a joyful time-traveling journey. As you’re listening, I hope you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the past - - maybe it’s a swank Supper Club in Manhattan, an intimate Parisian Cabaret, an elegant London Ballroom, or to Hollywood’s Golden Age - - or maybe you’ll just drift on the music, back to your own memories. ... more
