One of the two well-known songs in this collection, "I've Got my Love to Keep Me Warm" was written in 1936 by Irving Berlin. It was introduced in the 1937 film "On the Avenue" where it was used as an overture, again in a sketch and finally as a duet by Dick Powell and Alice Faye. The "backstage" film was intended to rival Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films, but the thin storyline fell apart and the film was a commercial flop. Today, it's mostly the songs that are remembered and not the film. "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" remains a seasonal favorite from the Great American Songbook.
